October: Begin Again

Hello there.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? How’ve you been?

Take a moment or two to really think about that.

It’s okay, I’ll wait.

If you’re here with me in the year 2020, I’d say we’ve been on a hell of a ride so far. Months of turmoil and uncertainty, of panic and fear, of whipped coffee and bread baking. A collection of new nightmares and odd pursuits that seem to have intruded on our lives.

It’s been made impossible to escape. Be it social media sites, local television stations, or that uncle by the coffeeshop that seems to know everything about anything, the influx of alarming news pieces from around the world seem to seep steadily under our skin. Hearing about families near and far, over mountains and seas, suffering under this whirlwind of change, equally defeated by days that never want to end.

Reluctantly accepting fate, desperately rallying faith, hesitantly taking barren paths.

The mountain before us is simply unconquerable.

Now, turn around.

Where you stand is past a myriad of ominous mountains already conquered, the deepest of briny seas already overcome, an assembly of treacherous paths laden with poison ivy already evaded.

Where you stand is miles from where you used to be.

Where you will be is leaps and bounds from where you are now; above the next mountain and the mountain after too.

So take that first step and begin again.
